About the role:

In your role as Assistant Vice President your will assist in the development and implementation of best in class Regulatory, Advisory Compliance functions within the Oceania Compliance team.

You will be required provide project management support for Compliance Regulatory Change Management, Regulatory Engagement Management and Regulatory Reporting and ensure the timely reporting of all Compliance matters in accordance with Head Office and ACO requirements

What you’ll be doing:

Your responsibilities will include -

  • Assist with providing comprehensive analysis and guidance to the business to enable compliance with existing and changing regulatory obligations
  • Recording of all regulatory communications, regulatory changes and regulatory audits in the Governance, Risk and Compliance system
  • Preparing regulatory updates for internal committees and stakeholders
  • Reviewing regulatory and legislative changes applicable to MUFG in Australia and New Zealand and providing summaries to stakeholders as relevant
  • Tracking of regulatory reporting within the Oceania Branch to ensure owners are submitting regulatory reports within the required timeframe
  • Assisting with monitoring and testing of regulatory and legislative compliance within the Oceania Branch.
  • Assisting with the development of controls for ensuring the Oceania Branch complies with regulatory and legislative requirements
  • Assistance with tracking of all active regulatory engagements to ensure responses are made within the required timeframe
  • Review regulatory compliance procedures, policies and other related documents. Make recommendations and draft necessary amendments and enhancements to these policies and procedures to satisfy Oceania regulatory requirements and assist with implementation
  • Support Advisory and Assurance & Testing team on various projects

What we are looking for:

  • 1-2+ year’s experience in banking or financial services compliance and potentially with a legal background (new grads)
  • Experience in project management is desirable
  • Undergraduate in qualification in Commerce, Law or Finance
  • General knowledge or capacity to acquire knowledge of regulatory environment for financial services in Australia and New Zealand
  • Be able work independently to provide advice to the business with respect to regulatory compliance, process and product
  • Able to apply a good sense of judgement in relation to interpretation of regulatory requirements
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver simple solutions with short notice
  • General knowledge or capacity to acquire knowledge of regulatory environment for financial services in Australia and New Zealand
  • Extensive experience using the full MS Office suite including, Powerpoint, Excel, Word and MS Teams
  • The ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally
  • Is a team player
  • Well organised with demonstrated experience in effective time management, execution and accuracy
  • Has the ability to work independently and prioritise a number of tasks across various work streams and alongside a number of stakeholders
