The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Employee Relations and Entity Human Resources, provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for Human Resources across St. Luke’s Physician Group (SLPG), System Services, and Network-wide Employee Relations. This role is responsible for developing and executing HR strategies that foster a high performing, engaged workforce while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and values. The AVP leads the HR Directors, HR Business Partners, and the Network Employee Relations Investigations team, and serves as a key partner to senior leadership, legal counsel, and HR Centers of Excellence to drive continuous improvement, compliance, and employee satisfaction.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and align HR teams across SLPG and System Services to ensure consistent strategy and execution.
  • Partner with HR Centers of Excellence (e.g., Compensation, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition) to deliver integrated HR solutions.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define and achieve entity-specific HR goals and objectives.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on staffing models, workforce planning, and career development initiatives.
  • Oversee Network Investigations and Employee (including Providers) Relations teams, ensuring thorough, fair, and compliant case management.
  • Provide guidance to Entity HR Directors and Business Partners on employee relations matters, partnering closely with Associate General Counsel.
  • Implement standardized methodologies for risk analysis, case tracking, and resolution to promote positive employee relations and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and monitor short- and long-term HR objectives to attract, retain, and grow top talent.
  • Lead initiatives that support employee engagement, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Regularly engage with leaders to provide feedback, disciplinary support, and development planning.
  • Ensure HR practices comply with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement solutions that support business performance.
  • Direct staff of HR professionals and administrative personnel.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen, emotional intelligence, and a composed leadership presence.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, fostering trust, transparency, and collaboration.
  • Maintain professional affiliations and stay current with trends in healthcare HR.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting for up to six hours per day, one hour at a time.  Standing for up to one hour per day.  Walking up to four hours per day, thirty minutes at a time. Fingering and handling continuously.  Twisting/turning of hands occasionally.  Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds frequently.  Pushing and pulling up to 75 pounds occasionally.  Occasionally stoops, bends, squats, crouches, and kneels.  Frequent reaching above shoulder level.  Hearing as it relates to normal conversation.  Seeing as it relates to general, near and visual monotony.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, or related field (Required)
  • Master’s degree or HR Certification (Preferred)

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources, Career Development, or Employee Relations, preferably in healthcare
  • Proven facilitation, coaching, and leadership development experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and maintain confidentiality
