How does this role contribute to our collective success?

The Assistant Underwriter, Upstream Energy will provide dedicated support to the Underwriting team in the Upstream and Midstream Energy class of business. Whilst providing administrative support, the AU will be exposed to AXIS underwriting philosophy and guidelines, including our rating tools and risk aggregation methodology. There will also be opportunities for collaboration with the Renewable Energy teams to broaden market skills and product knowledge. The role would be a progressive step towards building specialist knowledge in the Upstream Energy class of business and a career as an Energy Underwriter.
 

What will you do in this role?

Administrative duties to assist the Upstream Energy underwriting team:

  • Maintenance of underwriting e-files.

  • Initiation, checking and management of data entry, premium booking, and credit control processes.

  • Liaising with various parties (operations team, accounting department, brokers) for premium issues such as premium reconciliation, outstanding premiums, and other accounting issues.

  • Liaising with brokers on new business and renewals and attending client presentations.

  • Logging of risk submissions received.

  • Tracking of policy renewals throughout the year, including sending out renewal reminders to brokers.

  • Working on account specific executive underwriting summaries


Assisting with generation and checking of underwriting reports:

  • Checking of Daily Premium Movement reports.

  • Checking of Monthly Claim Movement reports.

  • Facilitating White Space / PPL submissions

  • Ad hoc generation of underwriting reports as required.


Ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal procedures:

  • Sanctions screening and checks.

  • Attending to internal and external auditors’ enquiries.


Learning about the Insurance industry and Energy markets:

  • Work towards obtaining an Advanced Diploma in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK), if this hasn’t yet been attained.

  • Market research of the Insurance and Offshore Renewable Energy industries.

  • Client research (for both potential and existing clients).

  • Attending client/broker meetings and/or virtual presentations.

About You:

 What you need to have:

  • Diploma / Degree holder

  • Preferably with 3+ years of relevant experience in the London Market, preferably within the Energy (Re)Insurance sector but not essential.

  • Good working knowledge in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel, Kofax PDF Editor and White Space/PPL.
