Required Education and/or Experience:
Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or related field. All Ph.D. requirements must be completed before employment commences.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
Candidates with postdoctoral research experience will be given preference;
Experience in teaching analytical chemistry and laboratory courses at the undergraduate and graduate level is preferred;
Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based teaching practices;
Strong record of research accomplishments (publications, grant activity, student mentor).
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in analytical chemistry, including lecture, laboratory, and special topics;
May also teach introductory-level chemistry courses as needed;
Develop and sustain a productive, externally funded research program in analytical chemistry;
Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research;
Contribute through service activities, such as participating in school, college, and university-wide committees, assisting with recruitment efforts, and advising majors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Committed to students' success as indicated by prior teaching experience and/or mentoring and supervisory experience of employees;
Expertise in face-to-face and virtual teaching methodologies, including active learning practices;
Expertise in Chemistry topics;
Knowledge and use of best teaching and safety practices;
Knowledge of general laboratory equipment and laboratory practices;
General knowledge of common analytical and spectroscopic techniques, including GC/MS, UV-Vis, FT-IR, NMR, and related instrumentation.
