Overview

The Assistant Manager will play a key role in supporting the PD Costing team, with a specialized focus on design pricing and product costing. This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional partners—including Design, Merchandising, and Product Development—to ensure the delivery of accurate, timely, and strategically aligned cost management throughout all stages of product development and production.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide multifaceted costing for new product development, balancing engineering, manufacturing, cost, and design aesthetic requirements.
  • Collaborate with Design and Merchandising teams to ensure costing strategies align with both design intent and retail targets.
  • Oversee assigned product resourcing and final cost reviews, ensuring timely responses to keep projects moving forward.
  • Maintain accurate post-production costing and ensure margin integrity across all product lines.
  • Review and validate purchase order (PO) cost change requests; resolve vendor price discrepancies through proactive communication.
  • Partner with the PD Costing Director to review and negotiate show costs, ensuring optimal pricing is presented for market alignment and business goals.
  • Review vendor invoices to ensure accuracy and alignment with agreed costing and PO terms; escalate discrepancies as needed.
  • Create and maintain costing charts and dashboards to support decision-making and enhance cross-functional visibility.
  • Maintain and update systems including PLM, Qiwk reports, Jira, and Oracle to ensure data accuracy and workflow efficiency.
  • Support additional manufacturing and engineering-related initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to balance business needs, design intent, and cost efficiency.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Effective organizational skills and attention to detail; proactive in identifying and implementing new solutions.
  • Knowledge of modern jewelry manufacturing techniques, including precious metal metallurgy and investment casting.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to translate data-driven analysis into actionable recommendations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Oracle systems.

Estimated Base Pay:

$78,000-82,000

Base pay is one component of David Yurman’s total compensation package, which may also include the following for eligible employees: access to healthcare benefits, 401(k) plan, bonus, employee discounts, Summer Fridays (corporate roles), generous paid time off, sick time, and more.
