The Role

Our Ridge Street site services many customers in a contract manufacturing capacity focused on packaged, natural and processed cheeses. These include the renown Bega cheese blocks- mild, tasty, and vintage, shredded and cubed cheese, natural slices, parmesan, colby, mozzarella and burger slice cheeses and an exciting new Lactose free range.

We have an incredible opportunity for a new Apprentice Electrician to join the Bega Group team! The apprentice will complete on the job training and be guided and supervised by the Electrical Team Leader and qualified maintenance team members while completing formal training through TAFE.

The role works on site at Ridge st from 6am to 2:30pm Monday to Friday and TAFE is located in Nowra. Having reliable transportation to get to both is essential.  There is a 4-year commitment to complete the training.

Responsibilities

  • Work with experienced and qualified tradespersons to develop your skills and techniques to diagnose and rectify equipment faults, in electrical industrial processes equipment across the business. 

  • Learn and develop safety risk assessment skills with trained professionals for safe, efficient delivery of preventative and corrective maintenance tasks.

  • Learn the safe and correct operation of plant and machinery and the correct use of hand and power tools.

  • Learn and develop new skills of how the analyse, diagnose, rectify process plant breakdowns, and contribute to recommendations for improvement.

  • Attend TAFE and complete the required modules on time and pass with good results.

About you

  • Minimum Year 10 or equivalent or a mature aged applicant

  • A commitment to undertake 4 years of relevant training to complete a Certificate III in Electro-technology and study at TAFE in Nowra in block course arrangements.

  • Aptitude in mechanical reasoning and understanding, with critical thinking and trouble shooting skills, with a strong focus on mathematical skills

  • Honest, reliable and trustworthy with an excellent can-do attitude, willingness to learn and committed

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate cross functionally
