Analyst, EMS Real Time Systems (OT)

Job Summary:

The main responsibility of the EMS Real Time Systems Analyst is for collecting, interpreting, and reporting data to support business decisions and improve operational performance.  This role research trends, evaluates processes, and develops insights and recommendations based on data analysis.  Also, this job collaborates with teams across the organization to identify opportunities, solve problems, and supports strategic initiatives through accurate and timely reporting. 

Job Description:

  • Oversees the add/remove/modify of SCADA points and Single Line diagrams to the SCADA system.   

  • Provides timely updates and feedback to the EMS Manager or EMS Team Leader

  • Supports effective EMS Real Time Systems use and administration by preparing and reviewing technical documentation.

  • Performs emergency recovery and troubleshooting of EMS system, applications and interfaces following the appropriates change control procedures.

  • Participates in EMS Disaster Recovery Drills.

  • Assists Operations and other business units during EMS acceptance testing of new and/or enhanced applications.

  • Responds to system failures and operator support functions on a 24/7.

  • Acts as OT liaison to the System Control Center for any changes to the transmission control center including change approvals and implementations. 

  • Provides guidance and technical expertise to less experienced staff and end-users on use, enhancements and problems. 

  • Oversees the commissioning of new substations to the SCADA system. 

  • Ensures data integrity throughout connected systems by following naming conventions and processes. 

  • Ensures the Test environments and Operator Training Simulators databases and systems are updated and synchronized. 

  • Provides control room operator support on SCADA applications. 

  • Participates in a 24/7 rotational on-call support model. 

  • Follows and contributes to the Safety Program to foster a Safety culture. 

  • Performs major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned 

  • Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures. 

  • Required to work additional hours as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.       

Additional Job Description:

Education and Experience

  • Required: Minimum 2-year Technical IT diploma /Preferred: Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • Required: 1 Year experience in operating systems and networking / Preferred: 3 Years experience in networking, databases, Telecom systems and substation control experience.

  • Previous experience with configuration of RTU’s or PLC’s will be a strong asset

  • Have a good understanding of SCADA, FEP, ICCP, RTU’s, HMI, PLC’s, Displays and familiarized with the communication protocols utilized on the Industrial Control Systems such as DNP3, Modbus among others.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Good communication and collaboration skills; team player.

  • Experience in *nix, Windows Server, networking, Windows/bash scripting and firewall configuration

  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot applications, networks, servers, databases and desktop computers. 

  • Proficiency in Windows Server 2016, Windows 10, Linux Distro’s, OSI Pi, Cisco and databases.

  • Must be able to write/debug scripts used in each. 

License/Certifications

Preferred: - Introduction to SCADA and IoT - Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) - Linux Administration - LAN/WAN Network administration
