Overview:

Drive the definition and implementation of reference architectures for secure, scalable AI platforms tailored for the financial services sector. Select and integrate industry-leading tools while ensuring platform resilience, comprehensive observability, and strict regulatory compliance. Architect solutions that address the unique requirements of financial institutions, including data privacy, security, and regulatory mandates.

Key Responsibilities:

Architecture & Standards

  • Author and maintain platform reference architectures that incorporate financial industry best practices, including alignment with FFIEC, NIST, and ISO frameworks.

  • Establish guiding patterns, guardrails, and standardized controls to facilitate consistent and compliant platform deployment across business units.

Tooling & Decisions

  • Lead build-versus-buy evaluations using total cost of ownership (TCO) and return on investment (ROI) analyses, ensuring interoperability with existing enterprise systems.

  • Select and integrate tools that support financial data governance, risk management, and secure operations.

Reliability & Compliance

  • Embed site reliability engineering (SRE) practices, robust logging, data zoning, and sovereignty controls.

  • Ensure platform solutions meet financial regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, GLBA, BCBS 239), and align with enterprise architecture and data governance standards.

  • Oversee integration of eDiscovery, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Key Management Systems (KMS), and support for data retention policies.

Risk Management & Audit Readiness

  • Design architectures that facilitate auditability and traceability, enabling rapid response to regulatory inquiries and internal reviews.

  • Implement controls for continuous monitoring, incident response, and compliance reporting.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with information security, compliance, legal, and risk teams to ensure platform solutions address emerging financial threats and evolving regulatory landscapes.

  • Provide clear documentation and guidance for cross-functional stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Required

  • 8+ years of experience architecting secure, compliant platforms in regulated industries, preferably financial services.

  • Strong cross-functional influence, with advanced documentation and communication skills.

  • Proven track record of delivering scalable solutions that meet strict regulatory and security standards.

Preferred

  • Expertise in mapping controls to FFIEC, NIST, and ISO standards.

  • Experience integrating eDiscovery, DLP, and KMS into enterprise platforms.

  • Familiarity with BCBS 239, SOX, GLBA, and financial data governance requirements.

  • Demonstrated success in implementing solutions that support regulatory audits and ongoing compliance.

Success Metrics

  • Platform adoption and standardized deployment across financial business units.

  • Reduction in duplicate tooling and architectural patterns, optimizing cost and performance.

  • Achievement of reliability and availability targets, with platforms meeting or exceeding regulatory and security requirements.

  • Consistent, clean architecture reviews and successful compliance sign-offs from audit and regulatory stakeholders.

  • Positive feedback from cross-functional partners on documentation, clarity, and support in meeting regulatory obligations.

Other Qualifications: 

  • As per MUFG’s work policy for all personnel, candidates must work onsite for 4 days and 1 day remotely out of either Jersey City, NJ, Tampa, FL or Tempe, AZ office.

  • The typical base pay range for this role is between $137K - $183K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
