AI Evaluation Process Governance & Program Manager

Do you have experience designing and operationalizing processes in large organizations?

Do you enjoy turning Responsible AI and governance principles into practical, everyday workflows that teams can truly use?

At Elsevier, we’re looking for someone who’s eager to shape how standardized evaluation practices are implemented across the company — ensuring that every evaluation is thoughtfully planned, executed, and evidenced. You’ll play a key role in embedding Responsible AI principles into real-world processes, helping teams work smarter, more consistently, and with greater impact.

About our Team

Elsevier’s Evaluation organization partners with Product, Data Science, Technology, Legal, Privacy, and leaders to ensure our AI features and products are trustworthy and effective. We build the methods, process, and guidance that our team and others across Elsevier use to design and run evaluations, and we integrate Evaluation artifacts into Elsevier governance.

About the Role

You will own the end to end Evaluation process at Elsevier and ensure it is embedded in corporate governance. You will maintain the Evaluation Playbook, templates, and checklists, map evaluation deliverables to the Data Science Project Review and related processes, and create new resources so teams can execute evaluations consistently. You will run training, communications, and change management to drive adoption, monitor compliance and quality signals, and keep the process aligned to Responsible AI expectations and emerging standards.

Responsibilities

Process ownership and optimization

  • Own the AI Evaluation process lifecycle: design, rollout, measurement, and continuous improvement;
  • Maintain the Evaluation Playbook, SOPs, templates, checklists, and example artifacts for all evaluation phases;
  • Define entry and exit criteria for evaluation stages and acceptance thresholds for required evidence.

Integration with Elsevier governance

  • Map evaluation deliverables to Elsevier’s governance processes including Data Science Project Review, technical reviews, and product stage gates;
  • Ensure traceability from evaluation plans to evidence, findings, risk mitigations, and decisions;
  • Partner with Legal, Privacy, and Compliance on alignment with Responsible AI and data handling requirements.

Enablement, training, and change management

  • Create learning paths, how to guides, and recorded walk throughs for product and technical teams;
  • Run office hours and workshops, capture FAQs, and maintain a self service resource hub;
  • Coordinate with product and data science leadership to embed evaluation expectations in planning rituals.

Metrics, reporting, and audit readiness

  • Define process KPIs and dashboards such as evaluation plan coverage, evidence completeness, and time to approval;
  • Perform periodic quality reviews of evaluation artifacts and provide feedback to teams;
  • Prepare for internal and external assessments including readiness for standards like ISO 42001 or comparable frameworks.

Stakeholder management

  • Establish a working group of representatives from Product, Data Science, Tech, Clinical, Quality, Legal, and Privacy;
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on adoption, compliance, risks, and improvement roadmap;
  • Gather feedback from teams and convert it into prioritized process and tooling enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Solid years in process management or program management at scale, with demonstrated end to end ownership;
  • Experience operationalizing governance or quality frameworks for AI, data science, software, or regulated products;
  • Good stakeholder management skills, comfortable influencing senior leaders and facilitating cross functional forums;
  • Proven ability to write clear SOPs, templates, and requirements and to deliver training and change management;
  • Familiarity with Responsible AI principles, model evaluation concepts, and documentation best practices;
  • Working knowledge of privacy and compliance considerations in AI evaluation and data handling;
  • Proficiency with collaboration and workflow tools and comfort defining lightweight metrics and dashboards;
  • Results oriented, organized, and able to translate policy into practical, usable processes.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to healthcare or research domains and evaluation of AI enabled features;
  • Experience preparing for audits or external certifications and working with standards bodies or frameworks;
  • Background in quality management, product operations, or technical program management.
