Job Description Summary:

The Advisor, Sustainability will act as subject matter expert for the organization’s comprehensive environmental sustainability efforts under the direction of the Principal Advisor. This position will be responsible for partnering with internal and external stakeholders to establish strategies and implement processes in key areas including waste reduction, responsible sourcing, recycling, food and nutrition services, and energy reduction efforts. This position will also engage associates and stakeholders directly to increase adoption and improve performance in system-wide sustainability efforts.

Responsibilities And Duties:

Act as subject matter expert and key driver for healthcare operations sustainability projects including those related to waste reduction efforts, food and nutrition services, and “green” buildings. Partner with internal stakeholders to meet sustainability accountabilities. Research best practices and assess current processes to identify opportunities to meet sustainability goals. Perform life cycle assessments, data analysis, and cost projections for proposed initiatives. Attend cross-functional and departmental meetings as sustainability representative. Influence and collaborate effectively with a wide range of internal stakeholders across departments and levels to drive sustainability initiatives and cultural change. Communicate sustainability goals, progress, and success stories clearly and persuasively through presentations, reports, and internal platforms.

Facilitate cross-functional working groups focused on energy efficiency, supporting the adoption of best practices and innovative solutions across care sites.

Analyze energy usage data from hospital campuses to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and to inform sustainability reporting.  Advise on the integration of energy-efficient technologies and practices in new construction and renovation projects, ensuring alignment with sustainability objectives.  Coordinate with vendors and external partners to validate service delivery and ensure compliance with energy efficiency standards.

Organize and lead efforts to engage associates across the organization around sustainability efforts. Advise “green teams” relative to long and short-range sustainability goals and projects. Provide biannual reports to key stakeholders on associate engagement activities and goals. Educating and recognizing internal and external partners on sustainability initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree (Required)

Additional Job Description:

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

Subject matter expert in environmental sustainability and social stewardship efforts.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with experience creatively problem solving.

Project management experience, with project management certification preferred.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to drive work through relationship building.

Ability to drive cross-functional teams and gain consensus across business segments.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated experience presenting strategies and results to all levels of a complex matrix organization. Grant writing experience a plus.

Passion for environmental stewardship.

Proficiency in data analysis, visualization and interpretation skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Project, Teams or related project management tool, and Outlook).
