Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an Administrative Assistant 4 supporting our senior leadership at our Elkton, Maryland office.

The Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers.  The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Description

The Administrative Assistant anticipates and facilitates organizational, administrative, support and clerical needs in order to contribute to the effective operation of the office.  Work assignments are complex in nature, where considerable initiative, judgment, tact, discretion, and creativity are required in resolving problems.  Limited travel may be required. 

The primary responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates schedules:  Manages calendars and schedules appointments, prioritizes appointments, tracks schedule, prepares participants for upcoming meetings, proactively collects meeting and read-ahead materials, ensures that key meetings are attended, and deadlines are met.
  • Coordinates events and communications between Leadership and departments.
  • Researches key issues.
  • Prepares complex presentations for use with other Corporate Leaders, customers, associations and public offices, and external special interest groups. Requires extensive use of Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Coordinates with the administrative support team across the corporation on meetings and events.
  • Prepares and manages weekly department reports and other financial reports.
  • Screens incoming calls, email and correspondence and responds independently when possible.
  • Arranges detailed travel plans and itineraries, compiles documents for travel-related meetings.
  • Prepares expense reports and reimbursements.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all business, personnel, and research matters.
  • Produces correspondence and presentations.  Proofread copy for spelling, grammar, and layout, making appropriate changes.  Responsible for accuracy and clarity of final product.
  • Deals with a diverse group of important external callers, including media, visitors, and internal contacts.
  • Plans for and coordinates meeting, office and IS requirements for visitors, including customers, VIPs and executives.
  • Handles confidential and non-routine information.
  • Interacts with all levels of the organization in a friendly and respectful manner.

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 years related work experience, including a minimum of 5 years of experience supporting senior leadership.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations with poise and diplomacy.
  • Able to work well independently, and as part of a team.
  • Able to effectively handle multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of flexibility, accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Proven expertise and high-level knowledge in the use of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and the Internet, including social media; able to learn new programs and databases.
  • Position continually requires demonstrated ability to handle complex work assignments, where considerable initiative, judgment, tact, discretion, and creativity are required in resolving problems.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Capabilities in the use of SharePoint
  • Experience with the management of data, including folder structure design and administration, permission management, etc.
  • DoD Secret Security Clearance - Interim or current active Secret Clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $61,700.00 - $102,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
