A day in the life

Our Strategic Capital accounting team is responsible for the consolidation, financial statement preparation and external reporting of for funds and ventures formed in the United States. We present the financial results and operating metrics of the ventures internally and to external users such as banks and investors. As an Accountant on the Strategic Capital Reporting team, you will assist in recording, reviewing, researching, analyzing and reporting financial activity for the US funds and joint ventures that Prologis manages and invests in. You will be given the opportunity to interact with various teams in a complex and fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Record and review financial transactions for multiple entities in accordance with GAAP and company policies. Prepare journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation in compliance with the relevant accounting framework (US GAAP/IFRS) and company procedures.
  • Review GL activity and account reconciliations to assess validity, accuracy, and appropriateness of balances, communicate with other internal departments to resolve any identified items, and prepare adjusted entries when required for areas of responsibility.
  • Understand our accounting data, ledger, ownership structure, intercompany relationships, and apply knowledge to daily tasks.
  • Assist with accounting responsibilities for several ventures including, but not limited to: monthly close, financial statement preparation, distribution calculations and communication with joint venture partners.
  • Assist with the preparation, review and distribution of the monthly and quarterly reports to venture partners, including the annual audited financial statements, and the debt compliance reporting to third party lenders.
  • Help facilitate payment requests for debt, equity and intercompany payments as well as general expenses.
  • Key role in coordinating the requests and the flow of information and documentation during external audit.
  • Proactive communication with internal customers (Prologis accounting, fund management and global strategic capital teams, etc.).
  • Utilize various financial systems effectively to complete assigned tasks, including Peoplesoft, EPM and Sigma.
  • Other duties, special projects and process improvements as assigned and/or identified.

Building blocks for success

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 1 year of general accounting experience or at least 6 months experience with the Prologis Accounting team
  • Proficient in MS Excel and a working knowledge of general ledger systems and reporting tools preferred
  • Conscientious, detail-oriented and produces accurate financial reports within required deadlines
  • Able to communicate effectively and efficiently across the functional and cultural lines of a fast-paced, multinational company and is cognizant of situations where supervisors need to become involved
  • Familiar with standard accounting concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Strong work ethic with a high sense of personal accountability that embraces change
  • Proactively able to manage time well and prioritize workload with limited guidance from supervisor
  • Discretion with confidential information

Hiring Salary Range of: $64,000 - $84,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target) to be determined by the candidate’s location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
