Compensation Range

Hourly: $54,500.00 - $94,500.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

As an Account Executive in a business-to-business sales environment, you will be responsible for developing new payment processing customers through prospecting and working with Commerce Bank referral sources, offering decision makers of small and medium size businesses, product and service solutions in credit card processing, electronic check conversion, and gift card/loyalty programs. You will become a trusted business partner with your prospect, identifying areas of improvement in payment processing solutions. About This Job

Acquires new Merchant business through cold calls, prospecting and referrals from within Commerce as a result of developing and maintaining internal relationships.

Essential Functions

  • Develop new payment processing customers through prospecting and working with Commerce Bank referral sources, offering decision makers of small and medium size businesses, product and service solutions in credit card processing, electronic check conversion, and gift card/loyalty programs

  • Identify areas of improvement in payment processing solutions

  • Must complete appropriate paperwork to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Meet commitments outlined in the annual Territory Plan or reach annual sales, profit, cross-selling and referral goals

  • Interact with C-level individuals in targeted companies

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Understanding of all aspects of the credit card transaction processing business

  • Knowledge of industry rules and regulations, working knowledge of core processing systems, and P.O.S. products, programming knowledge and card product attributes

  • In-depth knowledge of all NACHA and/or VISA/MasterCard rules and regulations

  • Ability to handle more complex industry and technical sales situations typically found in mid-size businesses

  • Excellent presentation  and sales skills

  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and meet Commerce Bank’s driving record criteria; ongoing employment may be contingent upon meeting all driving requirements

  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values

  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook  

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, finance, or marketing or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • 2+ years business to business sales or client management experience required

  • Experience with C-Level individuals required

  • Experience in MS Access preferred

  • Previous accounting, marketing or software sales experience preferred

  • Contract negotiations experience preferred

  • General knowledge of commercial or consumer credit preferred

The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable differentials (geographic, bilingual, or shift) that could be associated with the position or where it is filled. At Commerce, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $54,500 to $94,500 annually. This position will be eligible for additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will correspond to meeting performance goals.
