Job Description

Takeda’s Cell Line Development (CLD) team advances biologics manufacturing by creating and characterizing robust, high-yield cell lines. As a critical part of global bioprocessing, the CLD team supports discovery and development programs by engineering cellular platforms optimized for therapeutic protein production. Through close collaboration with research, process development, and manufacturing groups, the team ensures cutting-edge technologies are applied to generate safe, consistent, and scalable cell lines. With a strong foundation in scientific rigor and innovation, the CLD function directly contributes to Takeda’s mission to deliver transformative medicines to patients worldwide.


As a Cell Line Development Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology, supporting projects that contribute to Takeda’s biologics pipeline. You will work under the guidance of experienced scientists and actively participate in lab-based research and analysis.

How You will Contribute:

Duties will include the following, under the manager's supervision

  • Perform molecular cloning and vector design.

  • Prepare and validate vector constructs.

  • Conduct CHO cell culture and transfection experiments.

  • Draft and maintain experimental protocols and documentation.

  • Contribute to careful record keeping, data analysis, and presentation.

Internship Development Opportunities:

  • Molecular and cell biology techniques.

  • Vector design and construction strategies.

  • CHO cell culture methods and transfection workflows.

  • Cell Line Development processes.

  • Data analysis and presentation skills in a research environment.
     

Job Requirements:

  • This position is Fully Onsite out of our Cambridge, MA office

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.

  • Strong foundation in biology, chemistry, and/or biochemistry.

Internship Eligibility 

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship  

  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later  

  • The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (May 26th-August 14th or June 15th- August 21st)  

  • The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames   

  • Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates   

  • Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$21.00 - $46.00

The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.  The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
