The Surface Radars & Sensors Center seeks talented Systems Engineers interested in ocean engineering. Our Portsmouth, RI team primarily supports programs in the naval undersea and naval surface domains including sensor systems, mine countermeasures, submarines, torpedoes, combat systems, and ship architecture/integration. Our engineers perform underwater acoustics analysis and tracking; develop and manage system requirements; ensure product safety, reliability, maintainability and supportability; integrate hardware and software; develop test plans and procedures; debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces; verify system requirements in support of final sell-off to the customer; and provide product support.

We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and make sure our products work the first time and every time. Every day is a different set of challenges to overcome. You'll be expected to collaborate across disciplines and partner to implement solutions. In this role, you'll get to know a little bit about every aspect of the system and have a direct hand in making it all work together supporting teams of engineers engaged in integration and test efforts. 

This position is an onsite role in Portsmouth, RI. Test event support activity may require travel which is not expected to exceed 15%. 

What You Will Do:  

  • Conduct data analysis, such as acoustics, radar and sonar data, using tools such as MATLAB  
  • Perform requirements analysis, development and management 
  • Support planning and execution of Integration, Verification, or Test activities 
  • Prepare and present results in reports and briefings to internal or external stakeholders 

What You Will Learn: 

After completion of comprehensive on-the-job training, the candidate will be a part of a team supporting Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) activities across the product development lifecycle. 

Qualifications You Must Have: 

  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) 
  • This position requires 12 months or less of professional experience (excluding internships) 
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.  

Qualifications We Prefer: 

  • Experience and/or education in Ocean Engineering  
  • Experience with tools, such as MATLAB or Python, for data analysis and automation 
  • Experience with troubleshooting technical issues with electronics in an academic or internship setting, including the use of common commercial test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc.) 
  • Experience with or exposure to naval undersea and/or naval surface platforms

The salary range for this role is 55,000 USD - 107,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
