Job Description

The Process Engineering Department is responsible for the design, purchasing, installation, troubleshooting, qualification, operation, and maintenance of process equipment and systems. This includes, but is not limited to, manufacturing equipment such as process tanks, Clean in Place (CIP) systems, parts washers (COP), chromatography systems, ultrafiltration units, aseptic fill line equipment, packaging equipment, centrifuges, and filter presses. The team provides support to the manufacturing system. The Engineer implements improvements in the areas and systems through strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). 

As a Process Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the design, optimization, and implementation of manufacturing processes. You will assist in various tasks, including process analysis, troubleshooting of equipment, and data collection to support continuous improvement initiatives. Your responsibilities may include collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensuring compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). 

Additionally, you will engage in projects that aim to enhance process efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality. You will have the opportunity to analyze performance metrics, contribute to process validation activities, and support the maintenance of process documentation. This internship provides a valuable opportunity to apply your engineering principles in a real-world setting and develop essential skills that will support your career in process engineering. 

 

How You Will Contribute: 

Duties will include the following, under the manager's supervision 

  • The intern will actively participate in the planning and execution of various manufacturing projects.  

 

Internship Development Opportunities: 

Interns will learn: 

  • The intern will collaborate closely with seasoned engineers to enhance and optimize manufacturing processes. 

  • Gain practical exposure to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). 

  • Explore innovative approaches to tackling real-world engineering challenges within a manufacturing environment. 


Job Requirements: 

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering. 

  • This position requires full-time commitment, necessitating five days of on-site work at the Covington GA campus each week.” 

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a collaborative team member. 

  • Comfortable working in a clean room environment. 

  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety shoes, safety glasses, and earplugs to meet safety requirements in designated areas. 

Internship Eligibility 

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship  

  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later  

  • The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (May 26th-August 14th or June 15th- August 21st)   

  • The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames   

  • Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates   

  • Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$21.00 - $46.00

The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.  The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

 

U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:
