US Region Procurement is responsible for the commercial procurement activities in the US Region. US Region Procurement group is part of Global Procurement Organization. Chief Procurement Officer (to whom this group reports) is part of Finance Leadership Team and reports to the Global CFO of Takeda.
The team consists of 18 people. Most roles cover different spend categories. The main goal of US Region Procurement is to create value for their internal stakeholders from business units that are either fully or predominantly located in US. The group ensures this by partnering with the business and finance teams and ensuring the right partnerships are built and that value is not only limited to cost savings, but it is also about innovation, right quality and right supplier relationships.
As an intern within US Region Procurement, you will gain hands-on experience in procurement space. You will have full exposure to the entire team and be able to learn different aspects of procurement, sourcing, commercial categories, stakeholder engagements, category strategies. You will also be able to support the KPIs and help us monitor the KPI achievements and understand the role procurement (and US procurement specifically) is playing in the success of the organization.
You will assist the team and our stakeholders in various tasks. While the exact list of activities would be defined between the chosen candidate and the department, these will be tasks that will help the intern to learn from but at the same time will help the team and the stakeholders to increase the value the team generates for the stakeholders and the patients.
A list of potential projects includes the following areas;
Focusing on specific sub-categories with an outside lens to provide a neutral judgment on how we can improve our ways of working
Coming up with a long-term plan and executing on it to include additional categories for Project Cohesion to accelerate savings.
Implementation of new ways of working that would come out of the heatmap analysis.
Help us with analyzing the best practices within different sub teams (within our group and broader procurement) and find a way to cross-pollinate.
Support implementing AI solutions in our space
Explore and share Industry wide procurement best practices, Market Analysis & Industry Trends on specific categories
Support in multi-year Procurement vision such as support to include other categories into launched initiatives

Job Requirements:
Pursuing a master's degree in a related field
A foundational understanding of procurement, supply chain, or business administration principles is preferred.
This role requires full-time commitment and adherence to the hybrid work model, which currently includes an expectation of 8 in-office days per month to support meaningful collaboration.
Proven ability to contribute effectively as a collaborative team member.
Enthusiasm for learning and a proactive approach to sharing insights and knowledge.
This is a hybrid position located in Cambridge, MA
Internship Eligibility
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later
The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (May 26th-August 14th or June 15th- August 21st)
The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames
Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates
Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

$21.00 - $46.00
The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship. The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
