Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report in office three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]. 

Start dates for this internship role are May 18 & June 15 of 2026.

What You Will Do: 

  • Develop tools leveraging LLMs to automate manual tasks employing RAG, fine tuning, and prompt engineering in the domain of System Safety, Manufacturing, Software Development Lifecycle.

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizenship required to comply with federal government contract provision expressly restricting role to U.S. citizens.
  • Must be a current PhD student or second year master’s student in engineering or science
  • Research experience in at least one of the following areas: Software Engineering, System Design, AI/ML, Control Theory
  • Strong theoretical, and software programming skills

What Will Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications): 

  • Experience with AI and ML frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices
  • Familiarity with data analysis, statistical modeling, and data visualization techniques
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates leadership in field of study, extra-curricular activities, or service organizations
