What You’ll Get:
Our GIS Records Group is responsible for maintaining a state-of-the-art GIS database that captures the location and condition of transmission, distribution, substation and land-base assets relevant to Eversource’s electric network. This internship offers an opportunity to gain work experience and become familiar with the working environment at Eversource and the use of GIS within utilities in general.
The GIS intern will be responsible for assisting with data maintenance in the GIS database and related projects. The scope of the projects will be based on the current needs of the records group. Data will be mostly digital, but it may be necessary to reference older paper records in order to reconcile data conflicts.
The intern will work together with GIS team members, but you should also be comfortable working independently with little supervision.
Responsibilities
Assist with data projects based on current need of the GIS Group
Edit GIS data based on work orders, as-builts and other records
Consult multiple data sources to reconcile data errors
Accompany team members on field checks
Practice good communication and team work
Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems or related field
Experience with editing data in ArcGIS such as creating, updating and deleting vector features and associated attribute data
Basic experience with SQL queries for attribute querying and data management, ability to manipulate data in Excel
Interns are paid through our Managed Service Provider Program and are not employees of Eversource. Payrates are hourly and based on year of graduation and if the role is technical or non-technical. Technical rates start at $20.60 freshman and up to $27.38 for a senior.
